Genesis Overview

Nutrition

The Genesis Nutritionist provides Nutrition education to students, staff in the schools and Head Start Programs.  The Nutritionist also provides Nutrition education and food demos to parents/caregivers at program and hosted events.   

 

The Genesis Nutritionist offers:

  • Diabetes awareness education in the schools/Head Start programs;
  • Nutrition education
  • Food Demos
  • Offers support and provide healthful information on healthy eating

 

The Program Goal is:

 

  • Provide nutrition education
  • Promote healthy food choices
  • Educate on appropriate food choices & portion sizes for age
  • Promote healthy snacks through food demos
  • Provide milk & juice recommendations
  • Promote importance of physical activity in various settings

 

Program Activities Include:

  • Healthy snack & food demos
  • Food model demonstrations
  • MyPlate educational activities

 

Classes will cover a number of topics, in addition to the classroom instruction; we hope to enhance the students & families to make healthier food choices.

 

Curriculum Topics for Parents:

  • How to deal with picky eaters
  • Meal planning & fun recipes
  • Making healthier drink & snack choices
  • Food labels & content
  • Food safety
  • Proper portion size
  • Food/Snack demonstrations

 

Nutritionist is available to students/parents/caregivers to provide nutrition education. If you are interested in learning more about nutrition for your children or family, please call our office to schedule an appointment.
