School Health Services

Diabetes Prevention / Nutrition / Physical Activity 

The Genesis Program works with children and staff in the schools Pre-K to First Grade. The Genesis Diabetes Prevention Specialists provide a curriculum and physical activities to the following schools:

• Blackwater Community School
• Sacaton School
• Casa Blanca School
• St. Peter’s School
• Gila Crossing School
• Maricopa Christian School

► The Curriculum consists of 10 lessons on topics of diabetes prevention, nutrition and physical activities which is presented by the Diabetes Prevention Specialist.  After each lesson, a physical activity is presented to the students in the classroom. 

► Students are given a pre-test at the beginning of the first semester of school and at the end of the semester, the students are given a post-test.  The pre & post test are given to the students to evaluate how much they have learned about diabetes prevention, the importance of eating healthy and exercising. 

Non-School Health Services

The Genesis Program works with children , staff and parents in the Head Start Programs, Early Head Starts, Early Child Care Center and FACE Programs;
