Elder Fall Prevention
PROGRAM GOAL 2: ELDER FALL PREVENTION
To decrease fall-related injuries in the Gila River Indian Community.
The Tribal Health Department Injury Prevention Program has partnered with the Gila River Telecommunications, Inc. to provide an emergency medical device for elders who are in need of the service. Under this project they receive the following:
- Great Call Device – An emergency medical device that can be worn around the neck. In case of emergency, the Great Call unit is activated by pressing a button on the pendant which contains a 5 Star Agent.
- Emergency services in the event of a fall, or other life threatening situations with the Great Call System.
- Community Education
ELDER FALLS PROGRAM ELIGIBILITIY:
- Gila River Indian Community member or resides within the boundaries of the Gila River Indian Community
- Must be 55 years or older
- Must live alone
- Have chronic health conditions and at risk for falls.
